Ministry Highlights:

On Sunday, February 18, 2018, Saint James is wearing red in honor of Women's Heart Health Awareness Month. Please continue to pray for those who live with heart disease and those families who have lost loved ones due to heart-related issues. Log onto for more information on heart health.

Get Ready, Get Ready! Saint James’ “Lenten Series 2018,” promises to be one of the best series thus far. Lent Series 2018 begins this Tuesday night, February 20th at 7:00 PM. Pastor Slaughter is pleading with the Saint James Family to expect “New Things” (Isaiah 43:19) during the Lenten Season. It is imperative that members faithfully attend Lent Worship rather than watching the experiences online. There is a possibility that some “Lent Series” will not be live streamed. Please plan now to be in worship every Tuesday night during Lent. God deserves those 90 minutes weekly during Lent! Flyers are available in the vestibule area for members that desire to help Saint James spread the word about our "Lent Series 2018." Every member of the Saint James Family is expected to sow $20 for each worship experience. Remember, God Loves a cheerful giver.

Did you know that you could text your tithe or offering to Saint James? Take advantage of Saint James’ “Text to Give,” by texting your contribution to: 973-878-0759. In the message section, type the amount you would like to give. For example: $100.00 and then hit send. This makes giving simple, secure, and convenient. Remember, the Lord loves a cheerful giver.

The 2018 Consecration Guide and Devotional are available under the “Downloadable Resources” tab on the “Resources” drop-down menu on our website. To download the guide, please log onto

Quarterly Mass Baptism and Rededication is scheduled for Sunday, March 11, 2018, during the 11:00 AM worship experience. All baptismal candidates must attend one orientation session in order to participate.  Sessions will be held on Sundays, February 25, 2018, and March 4, 2018, in the upper fellowship hall after the 11:00 AM worship experience.  Please see or contact Sis. Barbara Carter at 973-622-1344, Ext. 116 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The Women’s Ministry Weekend is April 13-15, 2018. Please visit the registration table after each worship experience in the outer and lower vestibules for additional information and to register. Space is limited!

To all tithers, contributors, and partners of Saint James! As we begin a new fiscal year, as the “undershepherd” of this phenomenal ministry, I want to encourage you to be as faithful as you can to God and yourself fiscally in 2018. A dime out of every dollar goes to God, and the next dime out of the dollar goes to your savings. I am wholeheartedly believing in the word of God written in Genesis 26:12, “Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold because the Lord blessed him.” I believe if you can trust God enough to sow consistently and faithfully in 2018, God will bless you and bless you indeed!

The Saint James "Dirt to Destiny" (D2D) Capital Campaign is approaching the end of its second year. Through the Capital Campaign, Saint James has been able to purchase the necessary property/land needed for construction without obtaining a loan. The campaign will also provide a tremendous boost in the pre-development cost associated with the vision. Pastor Slaughter is strongly encouraging all members to make a pledge in 2018 toward the capital campaign. If you can pledge $5, $10, $15, $20 a week or per month, it will help the capital campaign tremendously. If you need a pledge card, please look in the back of your pew, contact the church office or complete the form online at When making contributions to the capital campaign, please write it on your envelope or on the designated line of your envelope. Remember Acts 5:39. We believe God!

Get Ready, Get Ready! Saint James Annual College Sunday is scheduled for next Sunday, February 25, 2018, during all three worship experiences. All members are requested to wear paraphernalia from their alma mater, favorite HBCU or institution of higher learning. Pastor Slaughter is also humbly requesting that every member and worshipper come prepared to sow a seed for the United Negro College Fund and Higher Learning Education during the annual college Sunday celebration.

Attention Members: The 2017 Financial Contribution reports are available for pick up after each worship experience. Reports can be picked up on Sundays in the lower dining hall and during the week, Tuesday - Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM. You can also receive your financial contribution report via email by emailing Rev. Kim Irby at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Lay Corner: In January of 1945, Saint James relocated to its current location. On Sunday, October 26, 1952,  a cornerstone was placed near the front entrance by the Prince Hall Masons and His Eminence, Bishop D. Ward Nichols, who was the Presiding Bishop of the First Episcopal District.

The Lay Ministry will meet this Friday, February 23, 2018, from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM, in the lower dining room. Please see Sis. Elfrieda Johnson, President, or Bro. Marcel Ringold, Vice President, for more information.

Attention all parents and teens. Our 2018 HBCU College Tour is rapidly approaching. The tour is scheduled for March 26th-30th. The second payment of $100 is due now. Thank you for your cooperation. Adult chaperones are needed. Please call Keshia Spencer, youth pastor, at 973-622-1344, Ext. 117 for more information.
