Ministry Highlights:

Saint James “Lenten Series 2017,” continues Tuesday night, March 28, 2017, at 7:00 PM with guest preacher, Bishop Walter Scott Thomas of New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD. The 2017 Consecration and Devotional Guide are available online. Please print your consecration and devotional guide immediately by logging onto www.experiencesaintjames.com and clicking on the "Resources" link. Copies of both guides are available in the church office for our seniors who do not use technology. Pastor Slaughter is pleading with the Saint James Family to   F. O. C. U. S. (Faithful, Obedient, Committed, Unselfish, and Serving) during the Lenten Season. It is imperative that members faithfully attend Lent Worship rather than waiting to watch the experiences online. There is a possibility that the “Lent Series” will not be live streamed. Please plan now to be in worship every Tuesday night during Lent. God deserves those 90 minutes weekly during Lent! Every member of the Saint James family is requested to sow $20.00 for each Lenten Worship Experience. Flyers are available in the vestibule area for members that desire to help Saint James spread the word about our "Lent Series 2017.”

Today, Pastor & Mrs. Slaughter’s eldest child, Kellyn Skyla is celebrating her 12th birthday. Please take the time to show Kellyn Skyla some love by wishing her a “Happy 12th Birthday.”

The Saint James Music Ministry extends an invitation to the members of the Saint James Family that desire to be a part of the Music Ministry. Please join us on April 5-6, 2017 for our Spring Vocal Training Workshop. Rev. Trini Massie, Minister of Worship at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA, will be our guest clinician.  Plan now to be a part of this life-changing experience as we learn how to better use our voices to give God the Glory. Come and grow with us!

Pastor Slaughter is strongly encouraging all ministers, ministry leaders, and members of Saint James, to join Rev. Lonnie Jones and the Evangelism Ministry, as they prepare to assist Saint James in becoming more of an “Outside-In Church.” A special training session is scheduled for Saturday, April 8th at 11:00 AM.  The session will equip everyone with the proper language to use when evangelizing. Jesus commanded us in Matthew 28:19 “to go and make disciples.” The first tenet of Saint James is “Making Disciples.” Please help Saint James to fulfill Jesus’ command and our first tenet. #Making Disciples

In conjunction with our Community Bible Study series, Saint James has begun preparing for worship by engaging in a “Centering Moment” before all three worship experiences.  At 7:20, 9:20, and 10:50 AM on Sundays, Pastor Slaughter is humbly requesting that all members prepare for worship by quietly "centering" themselves in preparation for God to do the unexpected during worship. During this time, Pastor Slaughter is asking that all conversations and moments of fellowship take place outside of the sanctuary so that members and ministries can prepare to hear from God. Thanks in advance for your support.

The first year of Saint James "Dirt to Destiny" Capital Campaign, ended on January 31, 2017. The Campaign experienced phenomenal success. Saint James was able to raise 95% of its first- year capital campaign goal. Year Two has officially started. Pastor Slaughter is strongly encouraging all members to make a pledge for the 2017 capital campaign. If you can pledge $5, $10, $15, $20 a week or per month, it will help the capital campaign tremendously. If you need a pledge card, please look in the back of your pew, contact the church office or complete the form online at www.experiencesaintjames.com. If you made a pledge in 2016 and desire to continue with that pledge, there is no need to fill out another pledge card. If you desire to increase the amount you gave in 2016, please fill out another pledge card and turn it in during any offering moment. When making contributions to the capital campaign, please write it on your envelope or on the designated line of your envelope. Remember Acts 5:39. We believe God!

On Sunday, April 9, 2017, the Pastor’s Aide Society will honor Pastor & Mrs. Slaughter and the First Family. We will also honor Dr. Mary White Williams and Bro. Carl Peterman. The event will take place in the upper fellowship hall at 1:30 PM.  Please see any PAS member for more information.
